Document tracking: who opened your work and for how long
Document tracking records activity on a shared document link. In Foliyo, Free provides a basic read receipt. Pro reports can show recipient-attributed opens, visible reading time and section engagement. These signals help you choose a follow-up; they do not prove a person read or understood the work.
How does a view become associated with an email?
The sender supplies the recipient’s name and email when creating a personal link, or the viewer enters an email through an email gate. Foliyo does not silently discover someone’s email address from an ordinary anonymous visit.
A personal link attributes activity to the recipient it was created for. Someone else can open a forwarded link, so link attribution alone is not verified identity. On Pro, an email gate with verification provides stronger evidence that the visitor controls the permitted inbox.
What each signal actually tells you
Use a combination of signals and the context of the client relationship. Avoid interpreting an individual event as a definitive decision.

Set up a useful tracking workflow
Choose the access rules and attribution separately. PIN protection controls access; personal recipient links provide attribution. Neither is a substitute for the other.
- Decide whether the page should be open, PIN protected or restricted by email.
- For individual attribution, ask for one personal link per recipient. Pro supports detailed readership reporting.
- Review the page’s tracking setting. Tell recipients about tracking as appropriate for your relationship and obligations.
- After sharing, ask your agent for the report and inspect section engagement alongside opens.
- Follow up with a helpful question about the work, rather than claiming you know exactly what someone read.

Foliyo supports turning viewing analytics off for a page through the integration. Disabling future collection does not itself erase historical records. Recipients and publishers can contact hello@foliyo.io about personal data requests.
